Played Out

This past weekend we got together with a bunch of our friends who went to college with Dana and their families at Arrowwood Resort by Alexandria, MN.

First we stopped at Grandpa & Grandma Obergs' for a visit and so that Dana could provide some computer tech support. We went out to eat with them in Milton and then went on our way to Alexandria.

The girls were squirrely at Grandpa and Grandma's. They got a hold of my phone:

Dana and Brynn went to the water park after we got settled in on Friday night, but I stayed in our room with Clara to put her to bed. After Dana brought Brynn back, the guys got together for some drinks. At about 11:30 Clara woke up crying and I spent the next two hours trying to get her back to sleep. Daddy was surprised to walk in about 1:30 AM and hear "hi" from Clara. And then he spent the next two hours after that trying to get her to sleep. Finally she crashed in our bed just after 3:00, I think it was. And of course beat us up with her feet the rest of the short few hours we slept that night. Sometimes she seems to get out of sorts when we sleep somewhere other than home. This was one of the worst instances! We were all pretty tired the next day, as anytime Clara got loud or would start crying Friday night, it would wake Brynn up, of course. We did go to the water park in the morning for a bit. Brynn was pretty cautious of anything spraying water in her face, so that limited some of the activities for her! It was very busy (and loud) in there and I think with Clara being so tired from such little sleep, it was too much for her. She clung to me and cried about half of the time we were in there. :-( So, we came back for lunch in our room and naps for everyone.

We headed back to the water park later Saturday afternoon and Clara started to warm up to the water fun. She loves to play ball anything, so we got her going with her little purple ball.

"Where did the ball go, Daddy?"

No one had stellar experiences in the resort restaurant unfortunately, so we all loaded up and headed to Zorbaz for supper Saturday night. We were able to close our troop off in a back room where their bar/dance floor was closed which worked as a great play area for all the kids to run around.

Ring around the rosy.

One of the other families took Brynn down to the arcade when we got back from supper. Clara was tired, but still her usual crazy self.

Chatty Cathy

She scratched her thigh up. :-(

We made a point to head out as soon as we got up and ready this morning so we could take full advantage of the awesome weather we came back home to today.

Clara was outside a bit before her nap and got *really* mad at me when she had to come in to lie down. I took her hat and sunglasses off when we got into the house and she then proceeded to try and get them back on herself. I got her downstairs to her bedroom and she lay on the floor, face down, crying. Poor muffin. She fell right asleep though and had a nice, long nap. And then we headed right back out after she woke up.

Brynn got out her basketball hoop and t-ball set. She always insists on wearing her helmet when she plays t-ball. I about fell over laughing at Clara trying to swing the bat to hit the ball.

Fun weekend! It's always an adventure sleeping with the kids at a hotel :( I think Clara looks like old pictures of me in that second pic of her in the sandbox! Loved the weather yesterday!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
