Bubbles, Butterfly Ball, Birthday & Baby

Whew - it has been a while since I posted and lots has happened!

Clara hard at work.

Clara is happiest when she can help you do something...anything! She was 'helping' Dad saw off the bolts on the swing set in the below pic. She was helping me make supper tonight and we were about to put the rice in the pan when she spilled a bit. She then cupped her hand over her mouth in shock of what had happened. Ha - it was so cute.

As helpful as she is, she is at least as feisty! She is constantly scrounging for food: before and after meals and if we're home all day, all morning long, too. I have no idea how they keep her fed at daycare honestly. She loves to find the snack cupboard and get into the chips. It was pretty obvious who the culprit of this mess below was with her blankie giving her away.

Last weekend it was time again for the Butterfly Ball. Brynn got her hair done and went out to Village Inn on her date with Dad. She met up with her friend Haylie at the dance and they had a fantastic time.

This year we again stopped at Tutti Frutti which happens to be just a few stores down from the hair salon. Brynn likes to fill her cup up to high Heaven and then realize she took too much and not finish it all. :-) Luckily this day was fill up your cup for $5.00!

They so kindly obliged for photos again...such a handsome couple.

Brynn and her friend Haylie

Clara has been super into bubbles lately. Although, sadly, she cannot go through a time of blowing bubbles without spilling the whole darn bottle. I don't know what it is about little kids and blowing bubbles, but to me it is just about the cutest thing. I think it's their chubby cheeks.

On Monday we took Daddy out to TX Roadhouse to celebrate his birthday. Brynn made him an enormous card and the girls did some decorating around the house. Happy birthday, Daddy!

The night of Dana's birthday at 2:00 AM (which would actually be the 19th then), I got a call that my sister was going in to have her baby via c-section. She was actually scheduled to have him on May 11 which is my Dad's 60th birthday. However, due to a long trial that Tessa was having with the flu, they ended up taking him early. So, we have a new, healthy nephew named Oliver Cole. He is so cute! The below picture is Clara napping on me on Tuesday afternoon as it seemed that day her cold got the better of her. On Wednesday I was home with both girls as Brynn seemed to have come down with some stomach bug. So, with the illnesses going through our house (I had been battling a sore throat/cold myself, too), I didn't want to chance bringing any of our germs and infecting Oliver...or my sister, so I have been itching to meet the little guy in person! I am hopeful to maybe take a couple of days off work next week and go visit. I didn't post any pics of him yet, as my sister hasn't had the chance to do her blog update, so I didn't want to preemptively post any pics of him. I'm sure I'll have lots when I get to meet him!

I'm happy to report everyone is on the mend now! This was from Wednesday afternoon when Brynn was home sick...she appeared to have a full recovery by 2:45 PM! Yay. Coincidentally, school lets out at 2:42. I'm not implying anything; just simply stating the facts. :-)

Hi-jinks with the shower cap tonight.

Cute, cute, cute! Brynn and Dana look great! That pic of Clara's blankie next to the Doritos is so funny. We miss you and can't wait to have you meet Oliver!

Such fun times with Dad! Clara will be looking forward to the Butterfly Ball soon, too.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
