Dead Lake Family Vacay

Beginning last Wednesday we headed to Dead Lake to start our annual family vacation while Dana's parents were on their motorcycle trip. They had also offered to watch the girls while we went out for our anniversary. Thanks for letting us use the cabin and for watching the girls!

We went out to Mable Murphy's in Fergus and had a really nice evening. I was telling Tessa where we were going and she thought maybe that used to be a place we frequented back when we were dating and we were going back to our old stompin' grounds. That's when I told her that to the contrary, Dana took me on our first date to Burger King. And he used a coupon. :-) I think we only ever did go there the one time. Ha. We much prefer Mable's now! Here's to 12 years and many more!

....and 12 years ago.

Dana had caught Clara's bug, so he started off the vacation rather down and out with a nasty cold. He tried to rest up which thankfully seemed to help.

Brynn promised Grandma Holly that she would water her plants while Grandma was away.

I took the girls back to the antique store that Brynn and I went to not far from the cabin last year. First mistake: taking a toddler into an antique store. As you can see below, Clara is holding a $70 porcelain doll. I couldn't get her out of there fast enough!

She found some vintage baby clothes and cloths and plunked down with the porcelain doll and was going to wrap him up.

Finally, she put him 'away.'

Thursday night we headed to Zorbaz on Ottertail Lake with some friends. They came back to the cabin afterward and their little boy had fun playing with Clara.

Hand on her hip. :-)

It was a beautiful evening for a boat ride that night. This photo was taken by Brynn on our boat ride.

Friday morning was strawberry-pickin' time! We headed to Herzog's again and collected a bunch of delicious berries. Clara was a good helper, until she realized you could eat the berries. Then she ate more than she picked. They are the best-tasting though!

We had more friends out again on Saturday which was really hot and a good day to be in the water. Daddy got the water trampoline set up for us.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
