Clara's Two-Year Photos

While it was still warm enough outside, we headed out to Glen Orchard park on the edge of town to take Clara's two-year pictures. The mosquitoes were horrendous and I was unfamiliar with how to navigate the large park, so I don't even know if we were in the best area of it for pictures. I wasn't overly happy with how they turned out, so I might try to take more once all the mosquitoes have died. :-)

These photos also remind me that Clara had her two-year check-up on September 7th and I forgot to post the update from her visit. She is healthy at 23 lbs which is in the 7th percentile. Her height has her in the 10th percentile compared to other kids her age.

A general Clara update at this age would include:
  • Learning more words every day and speaking in sentences.
  • Working on identifying colors and letters.
  • She still loves mothering babies and also playing hair/doing people's hair, swinging, copying Brynnie, music and books.
  • Working on potty training. She tries a couple of times a day at daycare and she wears undies sometimes at home, but can't seem to distinguish when she needs to go prior to actually wetting her pants. :-)
  • Her favorite foods are: hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, green beans, cereal, fruit
  • Has a biting problem, but is quick to 'reset' and say 'sorry.'

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
