Minneapolis Mini Vacation

Back in January when we realized Brynn had a whole week off for Spring Break we decided to plan a mini vacation to Minneapolis. So, the girls stayed with Grandpa and Grandma Froemming Monday and Tuesday. We came Tuesday night and we all headed out Wednesday morning.

On the road!

We first hit up the Mall of America. It was around lunch time when we got there so we tried Johnny Rockets and had some delicious malts.

Next we checked out the Crayola store.

And then the Lego store!

Even Daddy was browsing a bit.

So many Legos!

Batman Brynn

Batman Clara
Right outside of the Lego store was a rest/play area with more Legos stations. The girls played here for a bit.

More shopping...

Brynn really wanted to go to the American Girl doll store. She has what she thinks is the real deal American Girl doll which is actually the less expensive brand, Our Generation, from Target. :-) It was still fun to go in and look around, but we all had sticker shock. The level of detail and accessories for these dolls, though, is pretty amazing. Case in point is this little snack set of deviled eggs and PB on celery sticks!

Clara totally got into the Bitty Babies.

They essentially had a salon for the dolls where you could bring in your doll if her hair got to be a tangled mess (as they always seem to be!) and they'd straighten it all out for you.

We took in the aquarium in the mall as well. The girls really seemed to like that.

Last stop was Build-A-Bear. Truth be told I have always wanted to build a bear myself. Only the little girls picked out bears, though. Maybe next time for me.

We stayed at a hotel nearby the mall and chose a suit so we'd have plenty of room.

Clara was short on sleep and we had a long day of shopping at the mall.

That's better...

Thursday we went to the Minnesota Science Museum in St. Paul. Although it didn't appear that Minnesota students were on spring break at the same time, there were still a lot of people there that day and it seems a lot of classes come through for school trips. Brynn said she was a bit disappointed and it was different than she was expecting. I thought they had a lot of neat things there and it was pretty well done, but it did seem a bit difficult to navigate through all the people.

Clara loved learning about the furs!

That night we made it to our friends' house for dinner, though unfortunately I didn't get any pictures. It was great seeing them as they had moved down there from Fargo about a year ago now.

Speaking of friends, as we started making our way back home on Friday, we stopped for more shopping in Albertville before we settled at our other friends' house in Sartell. Their daughter made these cute treat bags for the girls.

Watching the movie 'Sing.'

Everyone was glad to get back home to our own beds and more sleep! Clara mentioned several times that she 'wanted to go home' and 'go back to Fargo.' :-( I felt bad that she was missing home, and Brynn also commented after we got back home that she got a little homesick on the trip. I guess we are just a bunch of homebodies. Ha.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
