Swimming + Lake Time

The girls got to go out to eat with Grandpa and Grandma when they went to stay at the lake recently.

Brynn went back with Grandpa and Grandma to the lake after Clara's party last weekend and spent the whole week there. Meanwhile, Clara had fun playing with all her new gifts she received for her birthday.
Clara also had her six-year check-up. She is quite healthy and although she is small for her age, still is growing how she should be. And has very good vision. She is beyond ecstatic now to be in a booster seat in the car.

I had this past Friday off of work which was also the last day of her swimming lessons at Island Park. She had told me that she met a friend in her class and that Alice's nanny knew Ryann (the girls' nanny). Small world. So, we had to snap a pic of them together.

I was so excited to be able to watch her at her swimming lesson.
She and Ryann had told me the day before that Clara didn't end up going off of the diving board that day because she wanted to save it and jump off when I was there watching her. :-)

You could tell she was pretty nervous, but she did it! Twice actually...which is how I got both video and the pictures. All the lifeguards/instructors were showing off their diving skills and tricks that day as well.
She was in level one and did not end up passing, but she didn't seem to care as I don't think she really realized about the different levels and how that all works. She had a good time, so I was glad for that.
Later in the afternoon we got packed up to spend a night out at Dead Lake as Christel and John were going to be out there as well. We snapped a quick family pic before going four-wheeling with Grandpa and Grandma.

It was nice and warm in the morning on Saturday, but then turned cool and no one wanted to get in the water...except Clara was the only brave one.

Christel and John stayed at our house last night. Clara made pancakes this morning.

The romas were ready for picking from the garden!

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
