Bonanzaville +

Clara woke up earlier than I think she was ready for the other morning. We'll have to try and start getting into the school routine of getting to bed at a decent time to be able to wake in the AM on time as well...like, starting tonight!

Bedtime story.

Dana had taken Friday off so he took the girls to Thunder Road and they had fun on the Go Karts and games there.

There are still actually a few things we haven't checked off on our Summer Bucket List yet and Bonanzaville in West Fargo was one of them. We had gone there to visit Santa in December and tried to do some of the activities they had in the various village buildings, but it was so cold that we said we should come back in the summer when it's nicer outside to be able to walk in between the buildings. So,the girls and I did that yesterday afternoon.

One building had two train cars stored in it and you could walk into the cars and see the inside a bit. I thought I had taken a pic of the outside of the cars, but I must have intended to and never actually did because I don't see any that were on my camera. Anyhow, I thought it was pretty cool. Not sure what the salute was for here.

There are several houses that are in the Bonanzaville village and all of them had an upstairs which I was really surprised to see. I had always read about one-room "shacks" that were only one level. Every time we ascended the rickety stairs to go to the upper level, we were taken aback at how stifling hot it was up there.

District Courthouse

Brynn spied a really old baby walker.

Town Hall

This house was incredible. Brynn said it was considered a mansion at the time. I had read a little bit about it in the description from the website this morning and I think there was more portions to it and cost $7000 at the time.

It was pretty amazing in the inside and very large, especially compared to the other one-room, two-story homes that we were surrounding it.

The girls were freaked out by the rugs.

I was really surprised to find a bath tub indoors.

An old potty chair. :-)

At the fire house, Brynn spied this quilt that had a square for Fessenden and Carrington fire departments.

Our friends, the Petersens, came over for a visit last night. We had a fun time visiting as usual and the kids had a great time on the four-wheelers and hanging out.

At Thunder Road one of the prizes Clara got was this dino egg. So, it's hatching now. :/

Clara was using her knife set she got for her birthday to help cut up some garden tomatoes for quesadillas.

Clara was able to go check out her classroom and meet the substitute teacher she'll be starting the year with on Friday. She is so excited, and Brynn, too. School starts on Wednesday and they are ready! I'll do a big post with the back-to-school stuff and the first day later in the week!

Fun! I've never been to Bonanzaville before. That courthouse pic with Clara in the judge's chair and Brynn "on the stand" is great, haha. Beautiful stained glass windows in that one room. Looked like a fun outing! Can't wait to hear about all the back to school business!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
