Family Fun Night + Soccer + Grandpa's Birthday

How we play hide and seek nowadays. haha. I was trying to help Clara. Brynn is a really good hider!

We're so glad the weather has been so nice lately!

Clara at swimming lessons on Wednesday:

On Friday was the family fun night at Clara's school. She and I walked over and Clara ate pizza while I visited with her friend's (Cora, sitting next to Clara) mom until I had to show up for my volunteer shift at the cookie walk.

Coming to join in on the cookie walk.

After winning a couple of rounds, Clara found another friend, Cade, and they helped call the numbers for a bit.

Clara brought home a couple of balloons, and I carried two gallon-sized Ziploc bags of leftover cookies. :-D I'll remember to work the cookie walk again next time. hehe.

I was able to make up for my lack of photos from Clara's first spring soccer game on Saturday. She was still unsure about playing, but about two-thirds of the way through the game, jumped in and was back in action. I can't remember if I mentioned in the last blog update that Dana is co-coaching Clara's team this season. 💙

Wednesday was Grandpa Kim's birthday so on Saturday night we went back to Pit 611 in Audubon to celebrate. The food is so good there. It was Dana's first time there and he enjoyed his ribs that he ordered.

Two German chocolate cake lovers of the family. Thankfully Grandpa shared with all of us.

After we got back to the lake from dinner, Grandpa gave Brynn some driving lessons. She really did great and picked everything up really quickly.

This was Grandma Darlene's Bonneville that will be Brynn's. She is so excited to have Grandma's car. It'll be a really nice reliable vehicle for her and she says she feels really comfortable driving it.

Brynn discovered this prayer on the sun visor. 💜

Bynn made some chocolate chip banana bread after we got home on Saturday night.

Clara bought the donuts at church on Sunday.

More soccer in the afternoon on Sunday...

Ha - not sure what was going on here.

Showing me her golf swing. :-)

Clara bought herself some (Strawberry Shortcake!) skates and was excited to try them out as soon as they were delivered today. Brynn dug out my old Rollerblades and they were tooling around the driveway together tonight.

"Squat Skating" or something like that...

Great soccer pics! That German choc cake looks delish. I need to try Pit 611 too! Grandpa should open his own driving school :) :) So glad the lesson went well for Brynn. She'll be a great driver! Love Clara's church outfit, so cute. Jean jackets for4eva. Nice skates, Clara!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
