May 4th + Brynn Haircut

Brynn had decided that she wanted to get curtain bangs, so Dad booked an appointment with his stylist for Brynn... coincidentally May (the stylist) is in my morning XaBeat (dance class) group ...which is how Dana got to know her. And she is originally from Fergus, but quite a bit younger than Dana and me, so Dana didn't know her from school or anything.

Anyhow, she did a great job guiding Brynn to how she should layer the rest of her hair so that it would look nice with the bangs, etc.

It turned out great! She was really happy with it.

Classic teen pose. ;-)

The next day was May 4th aka Star Wars Day: May the Fourth be With You! The Fargo Theater was showing the original 'Star Wars' movie on the 4th. Clara is a big Star Wars fan, so Dad took her out on the town to catch the movie. But before that they hit up Clara's fav, Blackbird, for some pizza and then Dad introduced Clara to Insomnia Cookies. They had a great time, though it got to be a pretty late night as the movie didn't start until 7:30 and they didn't even stay to finish the whole thing.

On Friday Tessa came to stay the night with the boys so she could go to Reagan's softball tournament.

We had a busy Saturday which Clara and Oliver kicked off ahead of everyone else with a very early morning start to the day.

Uncle Dana helped Ben with his 4-H project before heading to Clara's first spring soccer game of the season. It was so miserably windy, my brain wasn't working properly and I never even got any pictures. I would have had to have been super quick, though, as Clara played for a bit before she took a tumble, got embarrassed and sat out the rest of the game, playing a side game with another boy and Oliver.

We hung out at our house in the afternoon until it was time for Clara's second soccer game and Reagan's last game of the day which Brynn, the boys and I went to watch.

I don't know how they did it in the horrendous wind! Ugh, it was so crazy, but fun to watch the team!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
