January

Clara had really gotten into learning about Japanese culture and the language over the summer and found a book that went through the alphabet. She recently wrote me a bilingual note. :-)

I had booked a spa appointment with these two (Clara and Abigail, Hubert's sister). It was lovely.

I realized Dana and I happened to be twinning this day.

Clara checked out a taekwondo class recently and picked up on things really quickly in just that one class. She seemed super excited at the end, but has since ultimately decided not to sign up. It was really nice of the academy to let us try a class out.

Brynn curled Clara's hair for her one evening this week.

The next day Clara tagged along with Dad to his haircut and ended up getting a trim herself while she was there. She was so glad to have a freshened up 'do.

Clara had a sleepover at Adria's house on Friday night.

Dana and I took the opportunity for a date night. We had set out to go to bingo, but when we walked in (we were at Big Top Bingo), it was quite the snooze fest and Dana decided he didn't want to stay. So, we headed over to the new Junkyard Brewing location in West Fargo.

Then we ended our night out at The Flying Pig/Silver Dollar just down the road. Dana brought the car over and I walked and stopped at the snow sculptures along the way, just across the street. They were pretty impressive.

Saturday night was Clara's turn for a date night with me. We headed downtown to Blackbird for dinner, of course.

And Zandbroz for a little shopping.

The Fargo Theater was showing the original animated 'Cinderella' as part of their classic film series. It was so fun.

Since they were only showing it for one night, they had already switched the marquee (which was actually on the other side) before we came out. We should have snapped a pic before the movie. Oh well!

Hubert and Brynn ended up being able to take in a Force game Saturday night courtesy of our friends, Alex and Kaily, who are season ticket holders and weren't going to be using their tickets tonight.

I guess the Force didn't win, but they were excited they got on the Jumbotron (Alex and Kaily were at this game, but in different seats with a group they went with, so they kindly sent us the Jumbotron pics.) And Hubert was able to retrieve a puck, which he was also excited about.

Dad and Clara had a little Scheels shopping date today after church.

Brynn, Clara, Hubert, Hubert's brother Daniel and I went to Dike West for some sledding today. There wasn't much snow, but we made it work.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
