School Happenings

We got Clara's school pictures back (and already had Brynn's back a long time ago since they use theirs for school IDs.) I thought I had posted Brynn's already, but I didn't see it when I looked back on the blog, so I'm including now (or possibly for the second time.)

It's pretty blurry and difficult to see much, but the junior class had a Junior Preview Day this past week where they could sign up to tour either UND, MSUM or NDSU. Both Hubert and Brynn chose MSUM as they'd already been to UND and figured NDSU would get filled up pretty quickly anyhow. Sadly, neither one of them was impressed. :-/ I think it was still good to see another campus regardless as it only helps the students understand what they like/don't like about different schools.

On Thursday, Halloween, Brynn's AP (Advanced Placement) Psychology class had a Zombie Cafe in which the groups of students presented a restaurant concept with some dishes all relating to the brain. The instructor invited families of the students to attend, try the foods and hear the kids' presentations. It was so fascinating to see what all the groups put together. They all did an amazing job with the information they knew about the brain and the creativity with the whole project.

Brynn's group's restaurant's name was Brainforest Cafe. It was so clever and I thought their poster was the best (as well as the name). They did sweetbread and served a drink.

I loved this group's punch pouches that looked like IV bags.

Dana scored an eyeball treat.

I was excited to bring home some Medulla Munchies (aka puppy chow) and a dirt cup!

The guests were to vote on best restaurant name, most knowledgeable, best tasting dish, etc. Brynn said they'll find out their grades and who won the different awards on Monday.

Friday Brynn had a proficiency day at school for students get caught up on tests, missing assignments, etc. You must attend any class that you have a D or F grade, so thankfully for Brynn she had the day off of school! :-) It was especially nice that it fell the day after Halloween.

She slept in and then went to Clay Your Way with a friend.

Clara's class had an outing at the Plains Art Museum on Friday.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
