Ready for School

Last night was Meet The Teacher night at Centennial. Mrs. Stewart is Brynn's first grade teacher and seems super nice. Brynn discovered that her good friend Lily is in her class this year, along with a couple of other girls whom she befriended in Kindergarten. After meeting her teacher in person and seeing familiar faces, Brynn became more excited to start school. She had been saying she wasn't very excited up until now, as she was nervous meeting new friends and thought school might be too hard. I'm glad and relieved that she is looking forward to this school year. In fact, you can see for yourself how excited she is by watching this video. :-) Brynn's Video Selfie She is always taking pictures and video of herself.

After the school festivities, we were then on to Penny's (Brynn's piano teacher) for the Treasure Hunt. The current theme at lessons is pirates. Each year she does a back-to-school get-together, so this year she had a treasure hunt in her backyard and we made s'mores. It was fun to meet the other students. Unfortunately it was a pretty chilly evening, but thankfully we warmed up a little by the fire  pit.

Brynn is in the purple sweatshirt by the slide hunting for her treasure.

Found it!

Speaking of back to school...we have been busy preparing Brynn's school supplies for her big day tomorrow. This included sharpening 24 #2 pencils....with that crappy pencil sharpener shown below. Brynn started out sharpening them herself, but proved to need a little assistance. She was frustrated that we didn't have an electric sharpener.

So, I had to take over sharpening the rest, but I too, soon became frustrated with our lack of a better sharpener! Due to my blister I developed below here, we had to wait for Daddy to come home to finish the task.

"Work smarter, not harder," Daddy always says. Job's done. :-P

Last weekend, we spent a little time out at Dead Lake where Clara had her first  pontoon ride..which she pretty much slept through. Ha.

I know I've been lacking on the Clara updates and pics lately, but I am looking forward to some more one-on-one time with her now that Brynn will be headed back to school. So, hopefully that will allow me to be more with it on pics and updates! I can say that she is still doing very well and growing like a weed! I feel like she is literally growing before my eyes.

LOL - great update! Love Brynn's selfie video! Hope the first day of 1st Grade is a blast. Her piano teacher is sooo creative with her students. We miss little Clara - she sure is growing!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
