More Halloween Prep

Well, Mom made it the first week through Clara being at daycare, but just barely. It was a very difficult week for me. Clara did pretty well, but is still adjusting to a different schedule. The caretakers are super nice there and have been giving her lots of cuddles. Hopefully things will be better this week as I attempt to get more into the swing of our new routine. I just miss her so much when I had been used to being together with her all the time.

I was pretty excited when Friday rolled around and we didn't have any plans but to hang out at home all weekend. I picked up Pizza Ranch on my way home from work and I got some good baby snuggles in and we all played a game of Uno.

Clara played Uno too.

Brynn is really excited for Halloween coming up (me too!) and has been busy adding some festive decorations around the house. I love this bat and ghost.

Clara's new, better-fitting costume arrived this weekend. So now we have Brynn the bat and Clara the fish. So cute!

The queen of selfies.

Brynn is forever trying to get this little crown to stay on Clara's head. She so badly wants Clara to be a REAL princess.

Haha. She sticks her tongue out a lot.

Bubble beard...or goatee, I guess.

Brynn's craft. That is her as the bat sitting holding a pumpkin.

Fun with photo booth Halloween props today...

Oh man, this one really cracks me up.

She already rubbed herself a bald spot in back.

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
