Back-to-School Night and Clara's One Year Pics

Last night Brynn was able to meet her teacher for this year and check out her classroom for second grade. As I mentioned in my last update, she was not excited about starting school at all. I figured once she was able to see how nice her teacher is (I guess I was just assuming there) and see the classroom and who her classmates were going to be, she would feel more excited. Thankfully that was just the case! This is her teacher, Ms. Jarvis', first year at Centennial and her second year teaching. She did seem very nice and excited to be teaching the group of second graders. Brynn was glad to see familiar faces and friends in her class. Before we had gone to the school, while we were eating she said, "I hope I don't cry on the first day!" I told her I was hoping not too! After seeing how excited she is now, I think she may make it just fine and without tears. Crossing my fingers, though!

Checking out the daily schedule.

Brynn's second grade classroom is right across from Mrs. Stewart's room! Mrs. Stewart was Brynn's first grade teacher last year. Brynn had to stop in and say 'hi.' It was very sweet - Mrs. Stewart was excited to see Brynn and told her she was going to miss having her in her class this year.

My big second grader.

Not sure what was going on with Clara last night/today, but she came down with a fever last night and still had one going this morning when we all got up to head out for the day, so we kept her home. Oddly enough, it did break around 9:30 this morning and there didn't seem to be anything else going on with her. We were kind of at a loss as to what was going on. I thought maybe she had developed an ear infection after all from her cold last week. However, then her eye looked kind of icky and then I was worried she was getting pink eye. Dana reminded me, though, that another time when she had a cold, her eye kind of caught a cold too, so to speak, where it almost looked like it would turn into pink eye, but never did. So, I think that's what that was all about. Anyway, hopefully the fever and anything else stewing is over with now. She at least was able to rest up today with some good naps at home.

Being silly at supper time:

She thought she was pretty big stuff joining big sister at the table here.

I have been trying to work in a time when I could take Clara's one-year pictures. Tonight probably didn't seem like the most opportune night since she was a bit under the weather, but she had woken up later from her fairly long nap, so I thought she might not be ready for bed as early as usual. She only did last so long before she got tired again, which was fine, and her eye was kind of started to goop up again, so I tried to run with what I had. Of course I had to commission big sister's help. Clara just looks so big now in these pictures, and not as baby-like. Boo hoo!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
