Christmas 2016

Merry Christmas!

Friday afternoon we started our little Christmas celebration with just us four at home.

There were many rounds of the game, Spot It, played...

After Clara woke from her nap, we got dressed and opened our gifts to one another. We ate supper and then went to the early Christmas eve service at Hope. It was such an awesome service; I'm glad we were able to go. We headed out for Fergus Falls right from church.

We took some pics again before we left for church in Fergus on Saturday...

We opened gifts after we got back from church and while we waited for dinner to finish cooking.

Christel and John got Brynn a microscope...and this awesomely-cute lab coat to go with it.  Christel and Brynn got to setting it up right away, looking at different specimen slides. It even came with blank slides to make your own. I think they did a plant leaf and salt as a couple new ones.

Clara headed off to bed, so Brynn put out cookies and a note for Santa by herself.

After watching 'The Polar Express' movie on Thursday night, Brynn really wanted a bell from Santa's sleigh, just like in the movie.

She got it! It was actually a commemorative bell that played Tom Hanks' voice with the last couple of lines from the movie. Here is video of her finding it in her stocking: Bell Video

Grandma made Christmas tree waffles!

Always crafting. Brynn made a "Dad Rocks" banner this morning.

Dana and I headed back home this morning. We were planning to stay until the afternoon, but with the nasty weather forecast, we figured we should head out if we wanted to make it back today. The girls stayed at Grandpa and Grandma's and will come back on Tuesday.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
