Performances

This past week we enjoyed several holiday performances from the girls. First up was Brynn's piano recital on Saturday right after Reagan's birthday party. She played 'Little Drummer Boy' and did a fantastic job.

Sunday Brynn sang in church. She is surrounded by some of the other kids in our Sunday School class, plus the tall kid in the Vikings jersey over to the left. We have such a great group of kids this year in class; they are always so well-behaved. Daddy took the below pic, but I probably should have taken the camera with me, as I had a front row seat to the action since I led my group up to the front.

Yesterday was the HopeKids daycare and after school program concert. They had the grade schoolers down to the toddlers all up there at the same time, so we saw Brynn and Clara together. Clara had been practicing her songs at home this past weekend. I don't have any good pictures of Brynn as she was in the same position the whole time as you see in the below pic. She was upset because she didn't dress up like some of the other girls did. Clara did great, though! Ha.

I came over to the side so I could see Clara better and take some more pics. She spied me and came running over to me. I thought for sure she wouldn't go back to her spot to sing, but she did and finished out the concert.

Here is the video from their performance.

Thank you to the grandparents for coming to watch the performances! It's always so fun. Tomorrow I go decorate gingerbread houses at Brynn's school, so I'm looking forward to that.

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
