Christmas Vacation!

We've been busy this past week finalizing Christmas preparations. This year we made the mason jar candy gifts that we did a couple of years ago for Brynn's and Clara's teachers. They are so fun to make and the girls had a blast helping with them. Don, Brynn's, bus driver got a little box of cookies; otherwise everyone else received these babies. Clara's 'classmates' got Play-doh and stickers from her. When I picked Clara up from daycare today, her cubby was overflowing with gifts from the other kids in her room.

The other night Clara found some of these cellophane party favor-type baggies and was in a frenzy stuffing all her stuffed animals (well, the ones that would fit anyway) into each bag she had. I'm not quite sure what her goal with it was, other than I thought maybe this was her way of wrapping gifts.

Yesterday Clara had PJ day at daycare. All of us parents dropping off that morning were commenting that we wished PJ day could have been extended to parents too! All the little toddlers looked so cute and cozy in their jams.

Each morning that I turn on Clara's lamp in her room to change her, she throws her blankets over her face to shield her eyes from the light. This morning she was extra squirrely and said, "where is me?" haha. I found you, Clara.

By the time today rolled around, I had several errands that I still needed to do and had just not gotten to during this week. Plus, it was gingerbread decorating day at Brynn's school and I was planning on going to that. So, I ended up starting my Christmas vacation early by taking the afternoon off work. I have also taken off all of next week as well and am very much looking forward to it!

So, we had a good time decorating Brynn's house today, though I didn't really assist much at all. I tied the licorice bow and put the green frosting on the 'tree.' That was about it!

The kids made these cute Santa crafts.

Christmas vacation is officially on for all of us now, as Dana also is off all of next week, and we'll have the girls stay home from Hope as well. They'll be staying at Grandpa and Grandma Froemmings' until Tuesday and Daddy and I will come back home on Sunday.

Tonight we kicked off vacation with the 'Polar Express' movie. We hadn't seen it before, but it was really good. Clara got scared, though, when the 'train fell down,' and it was bedtime for her anyway, so she was done with it at that point. Brynn really loved the movie and even got emotional at the end which was interesting because movies never seem to make her sad at all.

We'll start our Christmas celebration tomorrow by opening up our presents to the girls and such at home here and then attending our church's Christmas service before heading to Fergus Falls to Dana's parents.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I'm sure I'll have lots of pics to post after the holiday. I'm off to finish wrapping presents.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
