Christmas Vacation

We started out our Christmas Vacation Bucket List with a sleepover in the family room. The next morning was "Morning Movie" and the girls chose to watch "The Polar Express."

On Wednesday we went to Space Aliens and then onto Skate City.

This space ship is Clara's fav thing at Space Aliens.

Brynn won 1000 tickets on this game alone. She ended up with about 1600 total, I think, and chose an expandable hard plastic ball.

We only last so long at Skate City since we girls always poop out before Daddy. I had gotten Dana a new set of inline skates for Christmas so he was happy to try those out.

Not sure where she gets her poses from. Ha.

We also held our Gingerbread House contest (thank you to those who were called upon to vote!). Dana and Clara were a team and emerged the winners. Brynn won last year and I think expected to win again this year. She sure doesn't like to lose. :-)

We have been checking off most of our other activities as well which also included organizing toys and getting rid of any that no one plays with anymore and going through Brynn's clothes. Exciting! haha. We have been burning through our other to-do lists with cleaning and organizing and it's been so nice to get some things done. The only thing we didn't end up doing was volunteering at a homeless shelter. We started to run out of time and our inclement weather, aka blizzard, this week wasn't very conducive to traveling about the city.

We have two more Christmas gatherings to attend and then it's back to reality. Boo!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
