Ready, Set, Christmas

Last Friday night I took Clara and friend, Adria, to the Peppa Pig Live show downtown. Brynn was originally going to go, but Elise and Tessa were coming to down to do Christmas baking on Saturday, so she opted to stay home to hang with Elise.

It worked out just as well since I think it would have been a bit young for Brynn. There definitely weren't any other kids Brynn's age there.

LOL. These two. Such goofballs.

Had to get the light-up toys!

And hot dogs! They did both have supper before the show, but were still apparently starving. Ha.

💜

Meanwhile, back at our house, Brynn and Elise were working their way through the to-do list they had come up with over the phone earlier in the week. :-)

Saturday was Christmas baking with Grandma Laurie, Tessa and Elise...and our girls.

We made peanut blossoms, fudge, spritz cookies and krumkaka.

Look out for Clara and the spritz gun.

Brynn and Elise ventured outside to build a snow fort.

On Sunday we finally got our new tree put up and decorated. It was a dream compared to our old one! No individual branches to mess with! Lights already placed on and ready to go! (well, that will probably last one year, but not a huge deal). Plus, it even has a foot button that switches the lights off and on so you don't have to wrestle your way behind the tree.

Dana helped get the three pieces assembled and then assumed his tree decorating position.

I love to see these two getting along. Poor Clara gave us a chuckle at the end.

Bahaha, I was dying when Clara's pants fell down. Lots of pre-Christmas fun! Thanks for hosting the baking day!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
