Christmas 2018

Merry Christmas!

Friday was my last day of work before the holiday break. It was also PJ day, aka the best day of my professional career. Hopefully we'll have more of those to come.

We went to church Sunday morning and came home to open gifts amongst the four of us before heading to Fergus to celebrate with Dana's side.

We were passing out the gifts and Clara told me that one of hers that was in a gift bag was a Bison shirt. We were teasing her how she knew that, but then she felt bad that she had (obviously) peeked, so Brynn was consoling her..as she was opening her Bison t-shirt.

Brynn's gift to Clara.

Dad was just as excited as Brynn that she received the Motoworks kit where you basically build a small motor.

Mom's turn!

Dana got me a new pair of purple Pumas.

And an iPad!

It must have already been a long day by the time we took off for Fergus later in the afternoon. She pretty much refuses to take a nap anymore, but then mysteriously usually falls asleep in car rides longer than a half an hour.

Playing Dr. Mario and other Nintendo games.

Monday morning we opened up some gifts from Grandpa and Grandma Santa. I think Dana should have to give his back. You see that red ball of tissue paper coming right at me?

We went to the afternoon service at Holly and Kevin's church and came home and opened gifts.

...but took some pics first. :-)

A total "Brynn" expression. Haha. I think she was surprised with the gift cards they received from Grandpa and Grandma for our Disney trip next year.

Getting cookies ready for Santa.

We opened up Santa gifts Tuesday morning and lounged around for a while before packing up and heading home.

On our way back to Fargo, my parents called to FaceTime with Seymour (their cat) since we were with Dana's side for Christmas this year. It was so cute.

I will post our bucket list activities in a separate post, but we have been busy playing with the new things we got for Christmas and checking the activities of our list and trying to catch up on some cleaning and organizing.

Clara was sad that she wasn't allowed to help put Brynn's motor together with Dad and Brynn.

We had a wonderful Christmas and hope you did too! Here is a video montage or highlight reel. :-) Just a couple of notes of explanation: Clara is talking on the phone to "Santa" aka Harlan, Holly's brother. He called on Christmas eve to wish us a merry Christmas and Holly had him on speaker phone. I think he said something about Santa calling and Clara's ears perked up and thought it was Old Saint Nick himself on the phone. So, she had to chat it up with him for a while. It was so cute and pretty exciting for her to actually get to talk to Santa on Christmas. She told him she'd leave some cookies out for him and Santa asked for chocolate milk. The last part of the video is the longest, but it's so stinking hilarious. She was making Santa's chocolate milk and making sure she got it just right.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
