Cousin Camp 2022

We headed out Friday morning and picked up a camper in Carrington on our way to Cousin Camp 2022!

We had a new, first-time junior counselor, Dana, this year!

This year's theme was "Life Skills" which had the teams starting out at the Farm and Family Center to find ingredients to make a meal for $15.00 or less.

Counselor Tia did a lesson on first aid which came in handy a couple different times as you never know when a teammate is going to fall ill or have an accident. This one was a trial run, I think. ;-) Liam's face in the background, though. Haha.

On to the cooking!

I think this one might have been for real - I think PJ cut her finger during the cooking challenge.

Counselor photo... and camper photobomber. Ha!

The gutter sundae was a hit again this year.

There goes two gallons of vanilla ice cream!

Breakfast: I didn't realize the plethora of flavors that Pop-tarts now come in.

Group photo attempt.

One of my fav events: fear factor food challenge.

Isla was the youngest contestant, but very determined nonetheless.

Lots of nose-plugging...

Sierra getting in the zone to take the championship.

Junior Counselor Cody ran the lawn mowing competition.

Junior Counselor Dana showed the campers how to change a tire.

....and then it was their turn.

Finding out who the winners of Saturday's events were.

Strategically choosing prizes from the epic prize box.

We stayed overnight one more night after camp was done and the older girls had fun four-wheeling together.

Video recap!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
