Summer in Full Swing

Summer is off to a busy start, especially for Clara and especially this past week in particular.

Mondays and Wednesdays she has tennis and Tuesdays and Thursdays she has golf. The sessions only go through the month of June.

She and Jenine have already been having a blast together.

Jenine has a instant camera with which she's been taking some pics for Clara. The bottom photo is her tennis instructor, Finn.

Brynn's friend who lives nearby celebrated her birthday this week and Brynn biked over to spend the night at her house and get their nails done the following day.

Soccer will finish up for Clara in the next couple of weeks as well. And she started track and field this week too. You're probably wondering what we're doing to this poor child with all these activities. Honestly, when I was putting all this in our calendar, I was a bit stricken myself at how busy June was shaping up to be for her. So far she has really been enjoying everything, and then after June, it will quiet down quite a bit, with no scheduled activities really.

These first couple of pictures were from practice earlier this week.

Brynn always is setting goals for herself and she would like to save up enough money to redecorate her bedroom by the end of the summer. She was showing me how she organized all her money and gift cards one night.

Clara and Jenine made one of those soda can robot kits this week. Clara couldn't wait to show Dad as she knew he would be totally into something like that. I should have opened the screen door before taking these pics, but it was just so cute to see how excited Dana was when Clara was showing him.

Clara had a practice track meet tonight. It was super fun to watch her as she had a big smile on her face the whole time.

Clara's friend from school is in track as well. She was pretty excited to see him.

Of course as if all the sports weren't enough, VBX was this week. Brynn so kindly volunteered as a group leader this year (she was more of a general floater helper last year), so she had a group to herself.

I was happy to have made it in time for the confetti bomb again this year. I actually arrived early enough for the last two songs. I just love all the kids' energy.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
