Easter 2017 & Birthdays

Headed out for a bike ride last Thursday evening.

I worked the morning on Friday and then we headed back home for Easter and to celebrate Oliver's birthday after Clara woke from her nap in the afternoon. But first we had an Easter breakfast potluck at my office. Tracy had the griddle going before 8:30 making fresh pancakes. There was so much good food.

Tessa got a fire going Friday evening for some peeps s'mores.

Chad had gotten a whole hog to roast for Easter dinner. The guys got it going around noon on Saturday. It took longer than they had anticipated to finish cooking so Chad and Dana didn't get to bed until 3:30 am Saturday night...or Sunday morning, however you look at it. I forgot to ask if they ran into the Easter bunny being up that late. The pork turned out delicious, though.

Meanwhile, Tessa and I decorated eggs with the kids inside.

Saturday afternoon we celebrated Oliver's first birthday. He had a "Where the wild things are" theme. So cute.

Snuggles from Grandma

Happy birthday, Ollie!

Sunday morning the hunt was on for Easter baskets. Brynn found hers in Auntie's new cabinet.

Getting ready for the Easter egg hunt in chilly temps and terrible wind.

Tessa had fun games and crafts planned for Sunday after dinner. We were playing a new game called Slamwich. We were trying to keep Ben on the straight and narrow. ;-)

We also celebrated Dana's and Uncle Lester's birthday which they share today!

The Easter Bunny stopped by for a visit! And brought a lots of goodies for the kids.

Clara wasn't too sure so she stuck pretty close to Grandpa.

We love our Easter Bunny.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
