Another Tooth, Swimming, Snow

Brynn and Clara dancing together on Sunday. I don't know if you can make it out on the video, but Brynn tells Clara, 'oh my sweetie pie. I love you.' :-)

Clara hanging around...

The girls both had dentist appointments on Monday. Clara did better than last time; she only cried for the first half. :-) She was happy as a clam once she was done and got to hang her fish on the net to celebrate being cavity-free. Unfortunately Brynn has a cavity that she'll need to get filled. She was pretty disappointed.

I don't recall if I had shared that Brynn was excited to pass level two in swimming lessons last session. She was ready to move on to level three and is loving it. She started using goggles now and that has really increased her confidence in the water.

Her class even took a try going off the diving board today. I was so proud of her. She seemed kind of apprehensive at first, but she followed through and said it was so much fun and it was like going through a water portal. Ha.

There goes another tooth! Last night the latest loose one she had and last of the front teeth was only half hanging on and really bothering her. The part that was still attached seemed pretty stuck on and not really ready to budge loose yet. Well, it must've loosened up because at Hope they posted a message in the parent app that Brynn had lost it. It actually fell out at school. I love that they were able to post the pic for us to see in there! I thought she looked so cute in this pic.

We were laughing that she looks like a vampire now.

And then this also happened today. Ugh, good-bye spring. :-(

Brynn working on a school writing project. They were assigned to write a 'fractured fairytale' (twist of a real fairy tale), about 25 sentences long, but they're supposed to type it up and e-mail it to their teacher. Brynn's is titled 'Kicking Beauty.'

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
