Cousin Camp 2024

I am finally getting to updating the blog for Cousin Camp 2024. The theme this year was All Star Sports. I wasn't sure if all the campers would be super into it, but last year the campers all seemed jazzed about the sports theme for 2024.

We brought Brianna with us this year again and came up on Thursday night. We got pretty out there brainstorming ideas for themes and adding to our already large list. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we're set for the next 10+ years! We also discussed what the future looks like for the older campers and we are so pleased that they want to keep coming back for many more years.

Anyhoo! On with it...

Elise and Brynn made the camp sign.

Fueling up at the DK before the campers arrive.

As always, we started out with t-shirt signing. Brynn did a great job designing this year's logo again.

After that, we walked over to the community center for basketball games. The younger lot played against each other while the older campers played a 20-minute game.

Junior Camp Counselor Dana and Counselor Tia's team won.

Tessa and I were chuckling at Brynn and Elise, because they weren't very aggressive with their defense or offence...they would just hug each other if they were guarding one another. Haha.

Again, Tia and Dana's team won for the older group.

After basketball, we made our way back to the house for the food challenge. This year the campers were tasked with making foods you'd typically eat at a ballpark.

Judges deliberating.

Next up was the highly anticipated game of slip-n-slide kickball. It was pretty entertaining for us spectators, but the campers seemed to also have fun playing.

Isla got a hold of Marsha. haha - so cute.

Marsha missed her chance to play.

After a dinner of brats and dogs, it was time for the talent show. We had a great display of different talents ranging from musical numbers, magic, sports and a space demonstration by Clara.

I loved Tessa's fitting idea of the ice cream baseball cap sundaes.

And for an extra treat, Cayden whipped up some Italian sodas for the campers.

The campers were supposed to camp out in tents again this year, but it was raining so some of the older girls opted for the new chemical warehouse nearby. It looked like a pretty sweet set-up  over there.

Group photo time!

Then we got going on everyone's fav: fear factor food challenge. We did have some pukers again this year, but we were still impressed with what the campers took down!

One of the foods was spicy and Sierra kept covering her ears. haha. I wondered if steam was coming out of them from the spice.

Both Prairie and Sierra emerged as the winners.

The last activity was a good, old fashioned game of baseball (or t-ball, if they chose that route). Everyone played really well!

Winning team!

Hot tub time!

Giving out some more awards at the end and getting hyped for next year which will mark ten years of cousin camp!

All of Tessa's planning, prep and hard work always makes for an epic cousin camp.

My fam and Brianna stuck around after camp for more ATV riding, hot tubbing, relaxing and visiting.

...and Rosa's! Thanks to the girls for making the Rosa's run.

Tessa grabbed her camera and got some shots of us with the beautiful double rainbow.

It was a beautiful night to unwind out by the fire.

Video recap!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
